Panellinios has agreed terms with Panionios' duo Vassilis Xanthopoulos (PG) and Ioannis Georgalis (SF).

They are also interested in Panathinaikos's Dusan Kecman (SG-SF) and Aris' Demetris Tsaldaris (SG).
High Aspirations by them i'd say. Smells like they're aiming for EL participation next year

Quote:2 days after the end of the greek playoffs, Eurocup participant Aris Thessaloniki anounced the renewal with Andrew Betts for 1 more season. The english center was a key member of the yellows in their run to 3rd place of the regular season.

"I wasn't happy with the way the season ended. I felt like i was owing something to myself and Aris. I loved being part of the team and i many times outed my desire to stay. I didn't want to change teams since i am happy at Aris and Thessaloniki. Thus from the moment i was given the chance to stay here, I never though twice about it" were his 1st statements to Aris' official website.

Quote:According to sportnet.gr, the team of Panellinios have set their sights on quite a few players and now all that's left is to start the negotiations with their agents. Coach Ilias Zouros is currently in Treviso to watch the Reebok Eurocamp that attracts a lot of attention but he has already left a list of players he is interested in and the administration of the team will try to sign them.

They are currently in between of Haralambidis and Tsaldaris. Only one out of these 2 players will be signed. Both can cover the shooting guard position but Haralambidis is a true combo guard that can play as point-guard. Tsaldaris on the other hand is a better defender and younger than Haralambidis. Apart from Ian Vouyoukas(2.11-C), the article says that they are also interested in receiving Georgi Shermadini(2.16-C) on loan from Panathinaikos.

Quote:It was a common secret in the past few weeks that Panionios' president Elias Lianos would substantially reduce Panionios' budget for the upcoming season.

As a result of that budget cut a new strategy was necessary to be implemented in order for Panionios to be competitive in the upcoming season.

That strategy required a turn to mainly Greek players and a local Greek coach who would cost less than a foreign coach in the calibre of Alexandar Trifunovic. Although the Serb coach still has a running contract he is expected in Athens in the following days to start negotiating for his release.

There have been rumours that Panionios is interested in the Greek Soulis Markopoulis who coached Marousi this season and led them to the Euroleague for the first time in their history.
Kavala interested in Yorgos Apostolides.
Panellinios must be the most active Greek team.

They are after Kalampokis now and wants Ian Vouyoukas of Olympiacos on loan.

Trikala are after Shawn Huff of Maroussi.
ESPN has said AGAIN in their TV draft coverage that Nick Calathes has requested that PAO release him from his contract. The reason stated was he was told by the coach of the team (Obradovic) that if they re-signed Saras then he would not get any playing time. This supposedly has made Calathes change his mind and he does not want to play with PAO.

This is the third time they have stated this now.
And in all three time you couldn't come up with a single link...

In any case, Calathes has a $0.5m release clause, so he can be released whenever he wishes when the money are deposited in Panathinaikos account.

All the rest are crap...

No need to keep discussing him. Calm down, he is not Galis.

Quote:PAOK Thessaloniki announced Anastasios Markopoulos as their new coach. The 60 year old coach is considered one of the best Greek coaches and led Maroussi to the Euroleague for the first time in their history in the past season.

Markopoulos signed a 2+1 contract with the Northern Greek team and this will be his second stint in PAOK after he led them to the Korac Cup back in 1994.

Markopoulos has also coached PAOK arch-rivals Aris and other teams such as Makedonikos and Marousi who wanted to keep him but but could not keep him due to their limited budget of next season.

Quote:Yorgos Bartzokas and Maroussi are reported to have agreed terms and the announcement is expected soon. Bartzokas has worked in Maroussi before, both as a coach and a player and has the trust of the management.

Bartzokas took the place of Soulis Markopoulos, the coach that lead Marousi to the most successful season of their history and to Euroleague participation in the qualifying rounds. Markopoulos signed with PAOK Thessaloniki and probably left Maroussi due to the heavily reduced budget of the next season.

Does the acquisition of Chatzivrettas consequently mean that Tsaldaris is off to another team? I heard some journalist connected him with Panathinaikos, but that doesn't make any sense. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

And what about Dikoudis? Would he be a Spencer Nelson replacement?
Tsaldaris in Panathinaikos with that kind of back court? The closes he will get to Panathinaikos is playing for Panellinios since they are an Athenian team too...

He was rumoured to be close to Panellinios, but they signed some other guards, of course they got money, even mroe than Aris, and could get him.

Wouldn´t rule out a move to Panionios...

Dikoudis has an offer from Aris according to the majority of Greek media...
Marcus Faison close to Peristeri. Might be announced even tomorrow.

Panellinios close to Blakney.
