Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra opened up on his decision to bench Kendrick Nunn and Meyers Leonard. The veteran coach explained that the goal is more important than the role.

“The goal is bigger than the role right now,” Spoelstra said. “Everybody’s all in on that, the purpose of what we’re trying to get accomplished here. We’ll need everybody,” the Heat’s coach continued, per Ira Winderman of Sun Herald, in advance of Thursday’s Game 2 against the Indiana Pacers.

Leonard, who was the starting center for the Heat in the first three months of the season, has been benched since the NBA restart. On the other hand, Kendrick Nunn was a starter until the last seeding game. He received a DNP in Game 1 vs the Indiana Pacers.
