Fred VanVleet will be one of the most sought-after free agents in the upcoming offseason break. The Toronto Raptors’ guard becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and league executives believe the four-year, $85 million deal Malcolm Brogdon got from the Indiana Pacers last summer will set the market for VanVleet, per Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

VanVleet has a career season so far in Toronto, as he is averaging 17.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game. The Raptors could pursue to sign the undrafted guard whatever the cost, as Kyle Lowry is entering the last year of his contract in Toronto and will be 35 next summer.

VanVleet went off for 30 points in the opening game of the first-round series vs Brooklyn, leading the Raptors to an easy victory. He became the first player in the franchise’s history to record 30+ points and 10+ assists in a playoff game.

Since entering the NBA in 2016, VanVleet has averaged 10.5 points, 2.6 boards and 4.1 assists with the Raptors, being an important part of the team’s title run last season.
