Mike D’Antoni provides injury update on Russell Westbrook

Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni doesn’t rule out the possibility of Russell Westbrook returning at some point in the first round of playoffs.

A new MRI on Westbrook’s strained right quad shows healing and improvement compared to his first MRI last week.

“It’s getting a lot better, good news. It’s healing,” D’Antoni said. “We just have to wait and see. I really don’t know at this point. Can’t rule anything out, but don’t rule anything in.”

Westbrook will miss the team’s first playoff game against the Oklahoma City Thunder and he’s likely going to miss Game 2 as well.

However, given the recent good news, it sounds like he could possibly return for Game 3.
