Luka Doncic on Porzingis ejection: “KP had my back… I don’t think it was fair to throw him out of the game”

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic posted an NBA record against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night, becoming the first player to reach the 40-point mark in his maiden playoff game with a 42-point outing. But he had to finish the contest without Kristaps Porzingis as the Latvian got ejected for getting in the middle of a minor scrum between himself and Marcus Morris early in the third quarter.

Speaking to reporters after the Mavs’ 110-118 loss, Doncic expressed his feelings on the controversial decision.

“KP had my back, he said. “Not just me, the whole team appreciated that. I don’t think it was fair to throw him out of the game, especially in the playoffs.”

A number of NBA stars took to Twitter to criticize the call on the night, with LeBron James referring to it as “bogus”.
