Fred VanVleet leads the Raptors to Game 1 victory

Fred VanVleet led the Toronto Raptors to a 134-110 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. He finished the game with 30 points and 11 assists.

VanVleet shot 11-15 from the field, including 8-10 on 3-pointers.

VanVleeet averaged eight points and 2.6 assists per game in the postseason last year in 24 playoff games. He didn’t start in any of those games, but stepped up in the NBA Finals.

Today VanVleet got help from Pascal Siakam, who finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Serge Ibaka added 22 points off the bench.

The Raptors won 11 of their final 12 regular season games and looked sharp today in Game 1. They had good ball movement and shot well, going 22-44 on 3-pointers. They also made 32 of 33 free throw attempts.

Game 2 will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
