CJ McCollum has been dealing with a back injury, but he is still the X-factor of the Portland Trail Blazers.
The star of the Blazers opened up about his injury and why it is important for him to continue playing.
“It was all mental. I was fortunate enough to have an injury I can play through, and our training staff has done a great job of monitoring it.
You understand you’re playing more than just yourself. We have a chance to do special things as a unit and I want to be a part of it,” McCollum said, via Mark Medina of USA TODAY.
McCollum had 29 points (on 11-of-19 shooting), along with three rebounds, an assist, two steals and a block, leading the Blazers to the 122-126 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies and to the postseason.
McCollum and Portland will face the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. Game 1 will take place on Tuesday.
