Shorthanded Nets crushed in return to action

The shorthanded Nets were crushed by the Magic in Orlando. The final score was 128-118, but Brooklyn trailed by 29 points after three quarters.

The Nets struggled defensively, allowing 111 points in the first three quarters. They repeatedly gave up open shots and allowed Orlando to get 10 offensive rebounds.

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot was a bright spot for Brooklyn. He had 24 points off the bench, and shot 5-8 on 3-pointers. Tyler Johnson scored 11 points off the bench is his debut with the Nets.

For Orlando, Evan Fournier had 24 points and Nikola Vucevic had 22 points. Jonathan Isaac finished with 16 points and six rebounds off the bench in his return from a knee injury.

The win puts the Magic half a game ahead of the Nets. Orlando is now seventh in the Eastern Conference, while Brooklyn dropped to eighth.

The Nets have an important game against the ninth-place Washington Wizards on Sunday.
