Luca Banchi continues Milano fairytale

After a fantastic first season, EA7 Milano coach Luca Banchi needed little time to discuss his future and will continue his reign in the fashion capital for two more years.

Banchi came to the club at the start of the 2013-14 season from Montepaschi Siena, where he helped them win the domestic league and cup double. Not only did he end Siena’s seven-year reign at the top of Serie A last season with Milano, but he helped them claim their first title in 18 years.

The 48-year-old impressively led Milano to a last eight spot in the Euroleague last season, surpassing all expectations. Unfortunately, they went no further, after losing to Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv.

Banchi had spent the previous six seasons in Siena as an assistant during which he helped Montepaschi to six Italian League titles, three Italian Cup trophies and reach the Euroleague Final Four in 2008 and 2011.

He also has head coach experience at Sicc BPA Jesi, Banca Nuova Trapani, Mabo Livorno and Trieste. Plus, he has also coached the Italian Under-20 and “B” national teams.
