The WNBA players, who opted out from the 2019-2020 season, are not going to receive any salary. However, the Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving is making sure for them to receive an income.

Kyrie Irving has pledged $1.5 million which will be supplementing the income of players choosing to opt out either because of coronavirus concerns or social justice issues.

According to Sportrac, the average salary in the WNBA is just over $200,000.

“In these conversations, I have learned about the challenges and opportunities of their decisions and how it will impact their lives, family, and overall well-being,” Irving said in a statement, per USA TODAY Sports, after he met with several WNBA players, like Washington Mystics guard Natasha Cloud and Seattle Storm guard Jewell Loyd.

“This platform was created to provide support for all WNBA players in hopes to relieve some of the financial strain imposed during these challenging times. Whether a person decided to fight for social justice, play basketball, focus on physical or mental health, or simply connect with their families, this initiative can hopefully support their priorities and decisions.”
