Newly-signed Houston Rockets veteran Luc Mbah a Moute revealed that he tested positive for coronavirus, which delayed his arrival in Orlando.
Mbah a Moute reportedly dealt with “chills and body aches”, according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle.
“It was tough. I’m blessed to come out of it,” Mbah a Moute said. “I pray for those in this situation. By the grace of the Lord I got through it.”
The 33-year-old also mentioned that he was isolated in his hotel room.
“The biggest thing for me, I was in the hotel room,” Mbah a Moute said. “So that’s not easy. When you’re at home, you kind of feel different. … But I was in a hotel room dealing with it.”
The 6-foot-8 forward is participating in practice, but he might not get playing time once the “seeding games” begin, as the Rockets have utilized “small-ball” lineups.
“It’s going to be tough, there’s no doubt about it,” head coach Mike D’Antoni said about Mbah a Moute’s playing time. “Realistically, if nobody gets hurt and everybody is playing pretty well I don’t know [if he’ll play].”
The Rockets have one more scrimmage on July 28 against the Boston Celtics before they begin the “seeding games” on July 31 against the Dallas Mavericks.
