Steph Curry welcomed back the WNBA season on his social media accounts, taking also a shot on the “system player” critique of ESPN’s analyst Bomani Jones.

Johnson implied Curry cannot win without a great system surrounding him, contrary to players such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

(Per Bleacher Report):

“You tell me you got Steph—I want you to tell me a little bit more. … My only problem with Steph though—this is a big problem—getting his own shot. He can get his own shot if he shoots it from 40 (feet).

“He’s got sick handle and all that stuff. There’s something different. It’s hard to explain what it is with Steph, but Steph is somehow like the greatest system player of all time. And I’m not saying that to shade him. But you are not going 1-4 flat and being like, ‘Get us a bucket.'”

Johnson made the argument that the Golden State Warriors superstar is not capable of winning on his own terms.

Sometimes Curry’s Hall of Fame status has been overlooked because of the lack of athleticism and his impact on the defensive side.

Despite that, he is the best shooter the NBA ever witnessed, an incredible ball-handler, a great finisher inside the paint and one of the most influential superstars in the history of the game.
