The Brooklyn Nets announced the signing of Lance Thomas today. Earlier in the week, it was reported that the veteran forward was close to signing with Brooklyn.

The Nets will be without Kevin Durant, Taurean Prince and Wilson Chandler when the season resumes.

They signed Michael Beasley as a replacement but he tested positive for the coronavirus. Beasley also has to serve a five-game suspension for violating the NBA’s drug policy.

Those injuries and illnesses mean Thomas will likely play significant minutes for Brooklyn when the season resumes. He spent the season unsigned until now.

Thomas was undrafted but has played eight seasons in the NBA, spending his last five with the New York Knicks. He averaged a career-high 8.2 points per game with the Knicks in 2015-16.

The veteran forward will now look to help the depleted Nets make the playoffs
