Zenit St. Petersburg has been considered one of the front-runners to sign Greg Monroe, if the ex-Bayern big man opts in to play in Europe next season, according to Eurohoops.

The Georgetown product made his debut in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague last season as the starting center of Bayern Munich.

Over 28 games in the premier competition of the European basketball, Monroe averaged 12.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest.

Zenit has started strong in the current offseason, after the appointment of Xavi Pascual as the club’s head coach. Until today, they signed Arturas Gudaitis, Kevin Pangos, Alex Poythress, and Denis Zakharo, while they are also interested in adding sharpshooter KC Rivers.
