LaMelo Ball reportedly wants to be drafted by the New York Knicks, but the young point guard is one of the top prospects in the draft. Another team could draft him before the Knicks have an opportunity to.

The Knicks have the sixth-worst record in the NBA and most mock drafts have Ball going in the top three. New York will need some luck in the lottery to move up.

The Knicks were also in a similar position with Steph Curry in the 2009 NBA Draft. Curry and his father made sure the Golden State Warriors knew that he wanted to go to the Knicks. The Warriors ended up picking Curry anyway with the seventh pick of the 2009 NBA Draft. New York selected Jordan Hill eighth.

Curry has led the Warriors to three championships and has no intentions of leaving them. Hill played just 24 games with the Knicks and is now out of the NBA.

There were plenty of rumors that the Knicks would draft Curry in 2009, just as there are now plenty of rumors that the Knicks will Draft Ball in a few months. As the Knicks learned then, there are no guarantees when it comes to the lottery and the NBA Draft.
