Veteran free agent Michael Beasley is moving towards a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, according to Shams Charania.

Beasley has a strong relationship with Kevin Durant, Charania adds.

The 31-year-old hasn’t played in the NBA this season, last playing 26 games for the Los Angeles Lakers last season.

Beasley will sign a minimum-salary, rest-of-season contract if the two sides reach an agreement.

However, Beasley was suspended five games in August 2019 for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy and has yet to serve that suspension, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

He would have to miss the first five games of the season restart and then he would be able to play in the final three “seeding games”, play-in games (if necessary) and the postseason.

The Nets already agreed to a deal with the 40-year-old Jamal Crawford and if Beasley signs, that will give the team two accomplished veterans in the NBA restart.
