Damian Lillard’s Top Trade Destinations are Lakers and Knicks

NYPOST writer, Marc Berman, this afternoon stated: “If scoring point guard Damian Lillard asks for a trade, it’s believed the Knicks and Lakers would be his choices.”

Depending on who the Knicks select in this years draft, Lillard would be the box office player they have been searching for. The Knicks have the cap space for a blockbuster addition to their team, but the question has always been whether or not people want to be a part of the rebuild. We saw this during the summer when Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving chose the Nets over the Knicks. The Knicks need to be able to make their franchise more attractive to superstars.

The Lakers, on the other hand, might need to get rid of a few players to add Lillard to the squad. I doubt they touch Anthony Davis or Lebron, so what else would they do? Would getting rid of solid role players such as Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma, or Dwight Howard be the answer? Who knows.

Lillard has noted in the past that he is unhappy with the Trail Blazers’ front office. He has also made it known that he thinks Lebron James is the “best player in the NBA and that he should win this year’s MVP.” Lillard has never made an NBA Finals and is in the prime of his career. Most players that have been considered “great,” have a championship to their name. If he wants to make a big-time career move, the time is now.
