Donovan Mitchell says his relationship with Rudy Gobert is in a good place again. The Utah Jazz teammates fell out after they both tested positive for COVID-19 in March, with Mitchell blaming the French center after he purposely played around with reporters and teammates while unaware he had already contracted the disease.

Mitchell, who drew the ire of fans for speaking on the current racial issues in the United States, admitted “it’s been a long few months for me,” per ESPN.

On his relationship with Gobert, he said:

“Right now we’re good. We’re going out there ready to hoop. And I think the biggest thing that kind of sucked was that it took away from the guys on the team, took away from what the guys on the team were trying to do and I really wish that as going forward.”

Gobert recently revealed he’s still feeling the effects of the disease and has yet to completely regain his sense of smell, having lost his ability to both taste and smell while hosting the deadly virus.

Donovan Mitchell, meanwhile, says the focus will now be on team bonding as the Jazz look forward to the bubble in Orlando at the end of this month.

“I think that’ll be really a part of the focus is just us gelling as a team because obviously, Rudy and I had COVID and whatever happened, happened, but now we’re ready to hoop and focused on the team as a whole because we’re not really trying to keep taking attention away from what everybody’s got going on,” he continued. “Obviously, we’ve got Bojan (Bogdanovic) out so we’ve got some guys that are really looking good and ready to step up and that’s what we’re really excited about.”
