Adam Silver says NBA “may need” to add delay to censor inappropriate language

NBA commissioner Adam Silver suggested that there may be a slight delay in broadcasts for concerns about inappropriate language and trash talking on the court.

“I think often players, they understand when they’re on the floor, they’re saying certain things to each other because it’s so loud in the arena, they know a lot of it is not being picked up,” Silver said. “They may have to adapt their language a little bit knowing what they say will likely be picked up by microphones and in all seriousness, we may need to put a little bit of a delay.”

Donovan Mitchell supports letting people hear what is really said on court:

It was previously reported that the NBA could pump 2K crowd noise into the arenas in order to fill the void left by fans and it could also drown out some of the bad language used by players.
