On a conference call, Washington Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard confirmed that the team will not bring John Wall with them to Orlando for the NBA restart.

Instead, Wall will continue to rehab from his ruptured Achilles.

Wall will reportedly work out in Miami with a small group of Wizards coaches who don’t make the trip to Orlando, according to David Aldridge of The Athletic.

Sheppard mentioned that the NBA’s long break cost Wall the ramp-up time he’d been getting in workouts during the season.

“He was in a pretty great place. Then this unfortunate time happened,” Sheppard said on the conference call. “And he kind of had to go back, I’m not going to say to square one, but he definitely lost all the basketball gains that he had made. Those kind of got pushed back because of all of this.”

Wall being with the team would’ve taken away one of the 35 spots of the team’s travel party for the season restart.

Sheppard noted that they are already making tough decisions on who will and will not be a part of that group.
