Giannis Antetokounmpo Couldn’t Afford a Cab, So He Ran!

Growing up in poverty, Giannis Antetokounmpo knew if he ever made it big time, he needed to give back to his parents because without them, he wouldn’t have to made it to where he is today.

Sports Illustrated reporter, Chris Mannix, says when Giannis was a rookie, he “took a cab to Western Union to send money home. After sending all the money he could to Greece (his home country), he realized he didn’t have enough left for cab fare. It was game day, so he started running.”

Imagine cruising down the road and all of the sudden, you see a 7-footer sprinting down the road. Well, luckily for Giannis, he only ran a mile until a couple recognized him and drove him to the arena.

If this story doesn’t make you respect Giannis a thousand time more, I don’t know what will.
