On this day in 2000, the late great Kobe Bryant threw an iconic alley-oop to Shaquille O’Neal to cap off the Los Angeles Lakers comeback.

The Lakers rallied from 13 points down at the start of the fourth quarter to beat the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, 89-84.

It is the largest start-of-fourth-quarter deficit overcome in a Game 7 NBA playoff victory, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Bryant and O’Neal combined for 43 points, 20 rebounds and 12 assists.

Here is the iconic lob:

The Lakers went on to defeat the Indiana Pacers 4-2 in the NBA Finals to win their first championship since 1988.
