While sitting courtside at a Lakers game, Lil Wayne, one of the greatest rappers of our generation, was approached by a reporter. She asked him who his favorite player was and Wayne’s answer was Kobe Bryant. Wayne says Kobe “is the greatest player to touch a basketball”. He says the way Kobe “fights through injury” and “excels through injury” inspires him in his everyday life.

Lil Wayne also made a song inspired by Kobe Bryant winning the 2009 Conference Finals. Bryant recorded 35 points and 10 assists in Game 6 to close the series out. Kobe remembers Lil Wayne calling him saying, “Man, that performance just motivated the hell out of me. I’ma do a song, is it okay if I do a song?” Check it out below:
