Ian Begley of SNY New York reported on Friday that the Knicks will try to add a forward who can shoot and list Carmelo Anthony as a potential option. Begley notes that the team heavily considered the idea of signing Anthony last summer, but that he abandoned their plans when they failed to sign the stars they wanted. New York Knicks president Leon Rose has also been Anthony’s agent for many years and “stays close” to the ten-time All-Star.

Anthony, 36, has had some sort of renaissance with the Portland Trail Blazers this season, after he had almost exited the league. He averaged 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game on 37.1 percent from 50 leaving for Portland.

While Anthony’s seven seasons in New York were often up and down, he seemed very open to the possibility of a meeting earlier this year.
