Report: NBA could resume in August, not July

The NBA is getting more optimistic about the season resumption. There are quite a few different alternative formats being considered. While this is happening, another important topic faded away in the background. It’s timing. Various reports suggested the second half of July is the date when the NBA could return. But it’s far from certain.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the season could be resumed in August, not July. “It’s possible the league could bring a recommendation to the owners on Friday, but that’s still uncertain. The NBA believes it has time to deliberate and discuss the matter. In fact, there’s a possibility the first games played in Orlando could be in August, not July, sources said,” he wrote on ESPN.

If NBA returns to play in August, that mean the players would have gone through more than four months without competitive basketball since the season was suspended on March 11. That is comparable to a full offseason that the NBA finalists would get under normal circumstances.
