According to Mike Fisher of Sports Illustrated, the NBA is considering trimming regular season to 70 games this year. The resumption of the season is more and more expected to take place in mid-July. The league is looking for optimal solution which would make everyone happy, as it is trying to balance the interests of contenders and lottery teams.

A conference call involving general managers and possibly owners will take place in which various options for resuming the season will be discussed. Fisher reports that a possibility of moving re-launch of the season to August will be discussed as well. It would become an issue if circumstances do not permit doing it in July.

Furthermore, Mark Cuban’s proposal to permanently move season start to December is getting more support and it will be one of the topics to be discussed during the conference call.
