Even though the FIFA World Cup in Brazil is now coming towards the semi-final stage, the FIBA World Cup inches closer with the Philippines revealing their new Nike jerseys (imagine every Nike basketball kit but in blue) and of course news that Argentina’s Manu Ginobili has a stress fracture and might miss the tournament.

So that’s your World Cup news done in double quick time – what’s happening elsewhere in the hoops world.

OLYMPIACOS WANT TO KEEP LOJESKI

We reported that CSKA Moscow were interested in Olympaicos import Matt Lojeski a couple of days ago. Olympiacos had an offer from CSKA and according to sport24.gr, the Greek side are not interested.

Olympiacos have told CSKA Moscow, and indeed any side that might be interested that Lojeski is not for sale during this off-season.

OLYMPIACOS THOUGH ARE INTERESTED IN BUCYKS

The former Euroleague champions though are interested in obtaining the services of Toronto Raptors’ Dwight Bucyks.

The guard averaged 15.6 points and 3.8 assists last season, playing for the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA D-League.

LIN TO THE SIXERS MAYBE?

ESPN have reported that the Philadelphia 76ers are expressing an interest in Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin, who we take it still isn’t happy that a picture of Carmelo Anthony was plastered all over the city with Lin’s number 7 jersey part of the picture.

Per ESPN:

Sources told ESPN.com that the Sixers, who have ample room on their payroll to absorb Lin’s contract, have emerged as a leading contender to take on Lin in a trade that sends no salary back to the Rockets, which would enable the Rockets to extend a rich offer in free agency to either Carmelo Anthony or Chris Bosh.

Milwaukee Bucks are also in the hunt for Lin. Their team is has definitely gotten stronger with Jabari Parker’s arrival.

GENTILE TO STAY WITH MILANO?

It isn’t confirmed yet, but it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that NBA Draft pick Alessandro Gentile will stay with EA7 Milano.

Team president Livio Proli told La Gazzetta dello Sport that Gentile would stay but it isn’t certain how many seasons.

“We have the agreement with Alessandro Gentile. He will stay with Milano,” said Proli. “We want to keep also Nicolò Melli. I hope he’ll stay.”
