To all of our American readers, we at TB are certainly hoping you are enjoying your 4th July celebrations. It’s a slightly quiet day but we are here as always with a look at what’s been happening in the basketball world today.

PACERS AND LANCE TALKS HAVE STALLED?

Lance Stephenson and Indiana Pacers haven’t come any closer on a new deal that would see Stephenson stay in Indiana for five more years.

The deal is proposed to be worth around $44million.

THE MELO SAGA: LOOKS LIKE HE COULD RE-SIGN FOR THE KNICKS

Free agent Carmelo Anthony has met with Houston Rockets, where Dwight Howard and James Harden spoke with Anthony about a move back to the Western Conference – and Melo has been to Chicago to talk to the Bulls.

Derrick Rose though was not involved in conversations, and he didn’t want to be. I guess Melo’s a grown man he can make up his own mind, right?

Rose was working out in a university gym in Chicago when he saw Anthony (coincidence?) arrive. ESPN have reported this and Rose was apparently shocked to see Melo in town.

It seems though that the favourites to gain Anthony’s services are … The New York Knicks. Anthony had a great chat with Phil Jackson and new head coach Derrick Fisher and more talks could be underway in the next few days that would see Melo re-sign.

RAPTORS CLOSE IN ON RE-SIGNING VASQUEZ?

Toronto Raptors’ have had a stroke of good luck over the last few days. When it seemed that they were losing Kyle Lowry, it looks odds on that they will re-sign him and now it looks like Greivis Vasquez is set to re-sign as well.

The two guards worked well together last season and with news that Lowry is coming back, Vasquez didn’t need to think twice.
