Jonas Kazlauskas named 17 players for the training camp today. The list does not include Linas Kleiza who will be taking a summer off to complete his rehabilitation.

As TalkBasket reported yesterday, Robertas Javtokas won’t wear Lithuanian jersey this summer due to health issues but is willing to re-join the national team the following year if he’s healthy.

Meanwhile Kleiza’s international career is under a question mark. The 29-year-old forward hinted that he might retire from the national after EuroBasket 2013. Later Kleiza stated that he has not yet made up his mind.

The list is also without Lietuvos Rytas shooting guard Martynas Gecevicius despite him having a rather good personal season in Vilnius. Last year Gecevicius was invited to the camp but didn’t make the final cut.

“I can only say that it’s my style of game and my philosophy”, Kazlauskas explained why Gecevicius was not called up.

Kazlauskas decided to invite four players from the reserve squad. Not surprisingly three of them are guards – Adas Juskevicius, Zygimantas Janavicius and Sarunas Vasiliauskas.

19-year-old center Arturas Gudaitis was also called up. He made his Euroleague and LKL debut this season with Zalgiris and has already drawn Kazlauskas’s attention.

In a press conference coach Kazlauskas shared his concern about the situation of point guards – apart from Kalnietis there are no high level point guards. He really worried of what might happen if Kalnietis gets injured.
