Tyrese Rice to leave Tel Aviv for Khimki

Euroleague Final Four MVP Tyrese Rice is reportedly opting out of his current contract with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv and looks to be joining Russian side Khimki, according to sources in Israel.

Reporter David Pick of Israeli website one.co.il first broke the news and it has already been met with some surprise that a Euroleague Final Four and domestic league MVP will be moving to play in the second-tier Eurocup competition.

Rice, an American-born, Montenegrin passport holder has apparently expressed a desire to play for Lithuanian coach Rimas Kurtinaitis, a former Eurocup Coach of the Year.

The 27-year-old hit the game-winning lay-up against CSKA Moscow in the semi-final before putting Real Madrid to the sword in a dazzling overtime display in the championship game. He scooped MVP honours in Milan with a game-high 26 points against the Liga Endesa giants.
