Mike Bibby was the leading point guard of the Sacramento Kings for seven years (2001-2008), helping them elevate to contender status in the early 2000s.

Bibby talked to Grant Napear and his former teammate Doug Christie about his time in Sacramento and his aspiration to become a head coach in the future.

Here’s what he said on The Grant Napear Show with Doug Christie, via KHTK Sports:

“I was excited. Elated. You know, just being with a group of guys that already set the tone, being “the best show on court” and all of that stuff. I just wanted to be a part of it. It was the best situation that anybody could have asked for. I didn’t know what it was going to be like, you know, you guys traded me for Jason Williams, I just wanted to come in and fit in.”

Over seven seasons and 476 games with the Kings, Bibby averaged 17.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Furthermore, the former guard talked on his will to become a basketball coach in the “higher level” and help young players with his knowledge and experience on the game being a borderline All-Star during this time.

“Just waiting for someone to give me a chance,” he noted. “I love doing it. I love teaching kid, guys, you know, the stuff that I have learned throughout the coaches that I had and just try to give them some knowledge and help anyway that I can.”
