Barcelona strike first in Liga Endesa Finals

Barcelona stole home court advantage in Game 1 of the Liga Endesa Finals with a 98-93 win over Real Madrid in the Spanish capital.

Ante Tomic and Bostjan Nachbar each scored 17 points to lead Barca as they gained a measure of revenge for their crushing loss in the Euroleague Final Four to their greatest rivals.

Leading 48-44 at the break, Barcelona looked to take command in the third quarter, but found Real Madrid a different class to the one they faced in the first two quarters. The top-seeded side took the lead at 73-70, heading into the final period.

All the momentum was with the Euroleague finalists.

Barcelona though had other ideas as they finished the stronger of the two sides to draw first blood in the 2014 Liga Endesa Finals.

Sergio Rodriguez and Rudy Fernandez both had 16 points to lead the Real Madrid charge.
