Just after Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv won this season’s Euroleague, former NBA players Reggie Miller and Greg Anthony confessed to not knowing much of coach David Blatt.
But now, they will know his name.
Maccabi coach David Blatt announced that he is stepping down at the end of the Israeli domestic season to pursue opportunities in the NBA.
Blatt announces his resignation just before his team’s Finals win over old rivals Maccabi Haifa, as the American regained the domestic crown that his side lost last season to Maccabi Haifa.
“Now is the right time for me to leave Maccabi,” Blatt said at a press conference in Tel Aviv. “I’m leaving a home, not a family.”
Blatt added: “I’m not leaving Maccabi for more money but to pursue my dream. Growing up the Boston Celtics made the NBA a dream.”
