Dusko Ivanovic named as new Panathinaikos coach

Current Bosnia & Herzegovina coach Dusko Ivanovic has signed a two-year deal with newly-crowned Greek champions Panathinaikos.

The Montenegrin replaces Fragkiskos Alvertis who will revert to his previous role as team manager.

Ivanovic, who arrived in Athens today said: “It’s a great joy to be here in Athens and Panathinaikos. It’s one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Everything here looks big: Organisation, history, fans, titles.”

The 56-year-old manager was coaching Bosnia & Herzegovina the last year, and has also been on the Barcelona bench from 2005 to 2008

Ivanovic then moved to Caja Laboral from 2008 to 2012. In 2001 he was awarded as coach of the year in ACB, while coaching Tau Ceramica.

The veteran playcaller will first lead the Bosnians into Group A of the Eurobasket Qualifying Rounds where they face Great Britain and Iceland in Group A.
