Zaire Taylor heads to the capital for a season in London

American guard Zaire Taylor has announced via his Facebook page that he will stay in the British Basketball League for a third year and play for the London Lions.

The reigning BBL regular season MVP will play for his third club in three seasons after title-winning stints with the Leicester Riders and Worcester Wolves.

Taylor won the BBL Trophy and Playoff Final with the Wolves last season after capturing the league, Cup and Playoff treble with the Riders in his first season. He averaged 19.1 points and 7.1 assists with Worcester.

He announced on his Twitter feed on June 4 that he was going to be staying in the BBL next season despite numerous rumours that he would look to play elsewhere, with France being labelled as a leading candidate for Taylor.

I am delighted to be heading back to England,” said Taylor. “I love it over there and I am excited to be joining the Lions in the Copperbox next year.”

“It was a tough decision to make but I am really pleased to join the team in the capital.

“It was a great to follow up my first season with the Trophy final win and the BBL Playoff victory.”

“The fans at both Riders and Wolves have been fantastic with me and I thank them for all their support.”
