Relationship between the NBA and China has not been resolved yet. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, China’s CCTV stated that it ‘has no intention’ to broadcast NBA games in the near future.

Windhorst also reports that the NBA hired Michael Ma as the new CEO of NBA China in an attempt to amend relationship with China. Ma’s father, Ma Guoli, is regarded as a father of CCTV Sports. Thus far it appears that the appointment has not helped in that regard.

The tension started when the Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted a message supporting Hong Kong protests that were directed at China. In response China banned airing of NBA games which resulted in losses of around $300 million, per Adam Silver.
