It’s the same old story in Greece with Panathinaikos and Olympiacos once again competing in the Greek League Finals, starting May 22.

Olympiacos needed overtime and a buzzer-beater from Vassilis Spanoulis to see-off Panionios 93-90 to win their semi-final series 3-0.

Evangelos Mantzaris sent the game to overtime with a bucket and when many thought the advantage would push towards the 2013 Euroleague winners, they had to wait to the last seconds before Spanoulis delivered the hammer blow to their Athens rivals.

Spanoulis led the winners with 22 points, while Errick McCollum led all scorers in vain with 25.

Panathinaikos made hard work of their Game Three win against PAOK, but ultimately swept the Thessaloniki-based side with a 72-65 win.

The Greens were never able to establish a big lead in this contest but the duo of Ramel Curry and veteran Dimitris Diamantidis who each led the scoring for Panathinaikos with 17 points was enough to seal the win.

Game 1 between the two sides is on Thursday at the OAKA.
