Siskauskas to be named Euroleague Basketball legend

The career of Ramunas Siskauskas will be celebrated with a special ceremony at the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four at Mediolanum Forum in Milan, where he is to be anointed a Euroleague Basketball Legend. Siskauskas, a two-time Euroleague champion and 2008 Euroleague MVP, will be presented with the award at halftime of the semifinal game between one of his former teams, CSKA Moscow, and Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv.

Siskauskas entertained fans on the court and was a true gentleman off it as a star for three Euroleague teams: Benetton Treviso, Panathinaikos Athens and CSKA. He came of age with Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of his native Lithuania before playing abroad. Siskauskas was selected to the Euroleague’s first All-Decade Team and was named to the All-Euroleague team on four occasions. He finished his eight-season Euroleague career with 1,655 points, which still leaves him 21st on the all-time list of scorers in the competition. He played in five Final Fours, winning two and losing two other championship games by a total of 3 points. Among players who appeared in at least 10 Final Four games this century, Siskauskas has the highest scoring average, 14.7 points per game.

“It is a great honor to be chosen as Euroleague Basketball legend.” Siskauskas said. “I am really happy to be considered a big part of this competition, with so many great clubs and players. None of this would have been possible without my teammates, coaches and clubs, so I want to thank Benetton Treviso, Panathinaikos and CSKA Moscow for the years I spent with them, as well as my former two Lithuanian clubs, Sakalai and Lietuvos Rytas, for giving me the opportunity to play and get better.”
