After a report about how Michael Jordan used to take away Horace Grant’s meal if he had a bad game surfaced, sports analyst Shannon Sharpe spoke to Grant himself and shared what he told him via a phone conversation. It turns out the reports were true.
“He says ‘Sharpe, I’m telling you 100% that did happen. There’s a flight attendant that’s serving us and he [Michael Jordan] touches the flight attendant and says ‘hey, he doesn’t need that cause he played like poo.’ Horace says he stood up and said ‘F-you, Mike.’ So he went back to confront Mike,” Sharpe recalled the conversation with the former Bulls forward-center. According to Grant, the bullying started from day one when he arrived to Chicago.
“Horace told me: ‘If you didn’t confront Mike, he would ride you every day, all day, all the time. You had to stand up for yourself. I didn’t have a problem with Mike the player, I had a problem with how he tried to motivate me,'” he continued. The only person that Jordan did not treat the way he treated others was Charles Oakley, per Grant.
Grant joined the Bulls in 1987 after being selected as a number ten pick in the NBA Draft. He played in Chicago until 1994. During this period Grant won three NBA championships. After leaving the Bulls he got one more ring with Lakers in 2001.
