Olympiacos and Panathinaikos did not qualify for the Milan Final 4 but managed to recover, since now they both focus on the upcoming Play-offs of the Greek League.
A.E.N.Kifissias- Olympiacos 67-75
Olympiacos found the way to escape Zirinio, Kifissia homecourt, despite many players being absent. The “Reds” started the game very numb, did not find a good offensive rhythm and allowed the home side to close the quarter leading 20-17. However, coach Bartzokas did not allow his players to continue playing like that, gave players like Kavvadas and Katsivelis some extra time, and this had as a result Olympiacos overtaking AENK and heading to the locker room in front 31-38.
After the break, the home side tightened up their defense trying not to lose contact with their opponents, but with Giorgi Shermadini leading the way, the European Champions created a safe 48-57 lead. All they had to do from then on, was to hold on to the lead, forcing Kifissia to many missed shots and finally got the win. Shermadini had 13 points for Olympiacosand led the way for the visitors.
Panathinaikos- A.G.O.Rethimno 76-61
After their bad performance in Moscow, Panathinaikos returned to positive results, beating AGOR in a game that was closer that the final score indicates. The away side caught their opponents off-guard and despite their bad defensive shape, they got an 1-point lead 19-20 after 10’. The Greek Champions emphasized on their defense and by having decent shot percentage, got ahead 38-32 at the end of the first half.
AGOR, despite having achieved their goals for the season, did not give up on the game, stayed focused at the start of the second half, applying pressure upon the “Greens”. The score of the 3rd quarter was 56-52, with Panathinaikos facing big defensive problems. Problems that were solved during the 4th, when Diamantidis took the game on his hands and led his team to the win, 76-71. The Greek superstar had 23 points while Gabriel scored 16p.
