Final Four Coaches Clinic announced

The 2014 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four International Coaches Clinic, organised by Giorgio Gandolfi: Sport Marketing, Events and Communication, will see four respected clinicians bring their coaching expertise to Milan in one of the weekend’s many parallel events.

Spanish national team head coach Juan Antonio Orenga, Italian national team coach Simone Pianigiani, Croatian national team coach Jasmin Repesa and American former NBA finalist Brian Hill are set to hold at least two sessions each during the clinic.

As in previous editions of the Euroleague Final Four, greats of the game will lecture aspiring coaches, reporters, players and even referees on details of the sport. This year the clinic is being organized in collaboration with ASA Cinisello Balsamo. It will be held at the Palasport Salvador Allende in Cinisello Balsamo, on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18.

The clinic has information to help all coaches with the four guest lecturers focusing on an array of topics. Pianigiani, who has coached at multiple Euroleague Final Fours, will speak about game preparation and video analysis as well as attacking switches. Repesa, who has also coached at a Euroleague Final Four, will discuss the use of zones, including a 2-3 zone offense and moving from a 2-2-1 zone press to a 2-3 zone defense.

Orenga, a bronze-medal winner at EuroBasket 2013, will focus on working with big men, with one session designed specifically on offensive play with bigs. Hill, who coached in the 1995 NBA Finals, will present out-of-bounds plays in the game’s last seconds, pick-and-roll offense and changing defensive strategies mid-game.
