Kendrick Perkins called out Ray Allen for the way the latter decided to leave the Boston Celtics in 2012.
Perkins said Allen was not happy in Boston and decided to ‘check out’ on the Celtics.
“He wasn’t happy because Doc made him the sixth man, right, he made him come off the bench. He wasn’t happy about that. Guys felt like Ray wasn’t all the way in.
Guys saw Ray talking to ‘Bron and some of the Heat players after the game. And the way that they were rocking at the time, if you weren’t [on the] Celtics … if you weren’t bleeding green, we weren’t fooling with you … They [Celtics] felt like Ray had checked out on them.
During that summer, Danny [Ainge] had a deal on the table for two years, I think it was $12 million — $6 million a year for Ray. Ray wasn’t calling nobody, he didn’t answer nobody’s phone calls.
All of a sudden, he signs a two-year, $6 million deal with the Heat, right? It’s like a slap in the face, with no warning, no nothing,” Perkins said in an interview with Logan Murdock and Kerith Burke of NBC Sports Bay Area.
