This summer the eyes of the basketball world will be on the FIBA World Cup in Spain as the USA will look to defend their crown that they won in Turkey back in 2010.
The world championships, which was re-named the World Cup to make the tournament more appealing has had some wonderful and unforgettable moments over the years. And FIBA have released a short video tribute to their flagship tournament before the World Cup begins on August 30.
The inaugural FIBA World Cup began in 1950 with the hosts Argentina beating the USA 64-50 in the final. Chile took home bronze by beating Brazil.
And from there, the World Cup has gone from strength to strength.
