Miami Heat President Pat Riley is well aware of the challenge Adam Silver and the NBA are facing following the suspension of the 2019/20 season.
Silver made the decision to put affairs on pause on March 11, following Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz testing positive for COVID-19. And, with the disease still terrorizing the United States, we are still unsure when or if the campaign could even resume.
The way Riley sees it, the league will have to depend on medical science to make a determination. Speaking in a video posted to the Heat’s Twitter account on Friday, the former coach said:
“We’re waiting for probably the most challenging decision that Adam Silver and his staff, not only in our sport but in every other sport [has made]. He is being very cautious. I think that’s great, and he’s going to rely on the science. I think we have to rely on the science because this will be an unprecedented move when he decides to start this thing back up.”
