The Muscovites’ summer acquisition out indefinitely with an ankle ligament injury
CSKA Moscow forward/center Kyle Hines, 27, will miss Friday’s Euroleague encounter against Partizan NIS Belgrade in the Serbian capital due to injury. Hines sprained his right ankle early in the first quarter of Sunday’s VTB United League game against Astana in Kazakhstan. He left the floor after only 2:20 in the opening period and didn’t go back into play. CSKA won 88:69.
Upon returning to Moscow, Hines was examined at a local clinic and diagnosed with an ankle ligament injury.
He will undergo conservative treatment and will practice individually, CSKA’s website reported Tuesday. At this point it remains unclear when Hines will be able to rejoin his teammates. In coming days, he will undergo further medical tests that should help determine the length of his recovery.
The 6-6 American has been an invaluable part of CSKA since joining the Russian giants last summer. Back-to-back Euroleague winner with Olympiacos in 2012 and 2013, Hines quickly established himself as one of the key players on Ettore Messina’s team and became one of fan favorites.
So far, his input on the floor has been tremendous: in Euroleague he has led the team in index rating (13.3 rating points per game), rebounding (4.8 rpg) and field goal percentage, hitting 66.7 percent of his shots.
