UCAM Murcia on the verge of landing Mickeal

Liga Endesa side UCAM Murcia are close to signing veteran Pete Mickeal for the remainder of the season.

The 2000 NBA Draftee last played for Barcelona where he helped them gain major success, including a 2010 Euroleague title in Paris alongside Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio. Mickeal has also played in France, Greece, Russia and has played in Asia as well.

Before leaving Barcelona in April over health issues, Mickeal averaged 11.3 points on 86 percent shooting from the free throw line as he helped his side advance to the Final Four in London where they lost to Real Madrid in the semi-finals.

The 35-year-old is also a three-time Liga Endesa champion.

Mickeal announced his departure from Barcelona stating that he wasn’t sure when he would return to professional basketball, hinting that he might never return. He returned to the United States to seek help over problems circulating in his blood.
