Ahead of tomorrow night’s big ‘el clasico’, both Real Madrid and Barcelona picked up wins in week 12 to stay first and third respectively.

Real Madrid picked up a hard fought 72-68 win at Joventut Badalona to go 12-0 for the season. They are a combined 22-0 both domestically and in the Euroleague this season.

Sergio Rodriguez led Real with 21 points on the night as they maintained their dominance ahead of the famous fixture which Real Madrid will host on Monday.

Barcelona defeated fourth placed Gran Canaria 62-52 as they travel to the Spanish capital with confidence.

Erazem Lorbek led a balanced scoring attack for Barcelona with 12 points but was the only player in double digit scoring figures for the winners.

Eulis Baez had 15 for the visitors who stay fourth.

Second placed Valencia were 96-84 victors at home to second from bottom Estudiantes and Valladolid took advantage of the loss with a 77-73 win at home to Monbus.

It wasn’t a good evening for the other Euroleague teams involved as both Laboral Kutxa and Unicaja Malaga suffered home defeats.

Laboral Kutxa were downed 95-83 to Canarias who have extended their winning streak to three games but are seventh Ricardo Uriz hit 26 points in the win. Laboral are still in 12th but their losing record overall stretches to 5-7.

Unicaja Malaga also lost at home as Zaragoza handed them 76-67 defeat and in turn moved the Eurocup side up to ninth while Unicaja dropped to sixth.

Other games in the Liga Endesa saw Cajasol Seville comfortably beat La Bruixa d’Or 78-60 thanks to 16 points and 10 rebounds from Scott Bamforth.

Gizuzkoa leaped into fifth place in the table with a convincing 77-58 hammering of Fuenlabrada. The game was tied at 29-29 in a woeful first half of action until the hosts exploded into life to gain the win.

Murcia snatched a 78-77 win at home to Bilbao as a clutch three-pointer in the dying seconds from Scott Wood secured the win.
