Euroleague hands out severe sanctions against everyone involved in brawl

Euroleague’s judge decision regarding the massive brawl at the Olympiacos-Galatasaray game has been severe, as the players involved were handed a total of 10 games ban.

Euroleague Basketball’s independent disciplinary judge has handed out the following suspensions and fines:

– Mirza Begic of Olympiacos Piraeus has been sanctioned with disqualification for four games together with a fine of €15,000

– Georgios Printezis of Olympiacos Piraeus has been sanctioned with disqualification for three games together with a fine of €10,001

– Pops Mensah-Bonsu of Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul has been sanctioned with disqualification for three games together with a fine of €10,001

Additionally, Olympiacos will have to play their game behind closed doors and pay a total fine of €39,011. Presumably, the Euroleague champions will try to change the decision and play the game with fans, but at least 300km away from SEF Arena, probably Crete or Cyprus.
