Remember watching Michael Jordan with your jaw as near to the floor as possible, eyes glued to his every move like he was the only person on the court?

Now, you can watch MJ in a light that was never seen until now.

The Last Dance is a 10-part documentary series, whose first episodes premiere on ESPN in the USA on Sunday (with the worldwide releases for each on Netflix the following day), showcases Jordan along with one of the most successful teams in sports history, the 1990s Chicago Bulls.

The series features never-before-seen footage from the 1997-98 season as the team pursued its sixth NBA championship in eight years.

The result would be a remarkable portrait of an iconic player and a celebrated team – a portrait only now being revealed, more than two decades later.

“It was a trying year, we all tried to enjoy that year, knowing that it was coming to an end,” Jordan said.

“Phil (Jackson) started off the year by saying that it was the last dance and we played it that way. Mentally it just kind of tugged at you throughout the course of the year, you know, but that this had to come to an end, but it also centered our focus to making sure we ended it right.”

In this documentary, you will see Jordan in all his gracious glory on the court. A 1990s version of Mozart with a mixture of a ruthless desire to win splashed in.

However, this documentary also shows the human side of Jordan. A bully. A man that sometimes let the incredible burden on his shoulders get to him and take it out on others. An intensity within him unlike anything ever seen.

Most importantly, The Last Dance will show that NBA players throughout history and today are just like me and you: Human.
