WHAT: Former NBA players Luol Deng and Pops Mensah-Bonsu will continue their Instagram Live discussions when they return to the social media platform tonight to share their experiences of playing professional basketball in the NBA and beyond.

In the previous episodes, the former players spoke about their African roots, growing up in London, moving to the United States at a young age and playing at the high school and college levels.

The Instagram Live conversations will continue in the coming days, with Deng and Mensah-Bonsu still set to speak about representing Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games in London; talk about their careers after retiring from the sport and developing the game of basketball in Africa; and answer fans’ questions.

Born in Wau, South Sudan, Deng was selected with the number seven overall pick by the Phoenix Suns in the 2004 NBA Draft and was subsequently traded to the Chicago Bulls where he played from 2004-2014.  He also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves, before signing a one-day contract with the Chicago Bulls to retire as a Bull ahead of the 2019-20 NBA Season. Deng is a two-time NBA All-Star (2012, 2013).  He was a recipient of the 2007 NBA Sportsmanship Award and was named to the 2005 NBA All-Rookie First Team. 

Born in London, England, to Ghanaian parents, Mensah-Bonsu played for the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans). Following his NBA career, he continued playing professional basketball in Europe, including the top leagues in France, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Israel and Greece. He was named the 2012 Turkish Basketball League Player of the Year. Mensah-Bonsu is currently the NBA G League’s Capital City Go-Go General Manager.
